Other Pursuits | Life Beyond the Books (September 2026)

🌿 Life Lately

Welcome to Other Pursuits!

How the heck are we in October?? June only feels like yesterday! This year is flying by. September was a bit of a nothing month. I’ve still been job hunting and I have had a couple of intereviews, one of which I was offered the job for which was such a relief! Its been a long 3 months of job hunting. Its only a 6 month contract with possibele extension so I’ll still be keeping an eye for something more permenant.

I also baked some Nutella buns – the first time I’ve made dough in a while and they turned out great.

📚 Bookish Highlights

I’ve slowly been getting my reading mojo back. I read some genuine great books that I had alot fun with.

  • My favourite read – Yes Chef by Grace Reilly
  • The book that surprised me – King of Wrath by Ana Huang

I also listened to the audibook of A Court of Silver Flames in prep for the next ACOTAR book and it made me miss being in Prythian so much I’m now listening to A Court of Mist and Fury🤦🏻‍♀️

🎧 Beyond the Books

I actually have a new podcast recommendation this month Crimes of Reddit! I found this one from listening to Clue as the hosts guest stared one of the episodes. Crimes of Reddit tells true crime stories found on reddit. I’ve been really enjoying it so far and its a little lighter in terms of murder content.

TV wise, I binged Neagley which is a spin off from Reacher and dare I say I liked it better, the storyline had me hooked! Im really hoping Amazon hurries up and renews it for a second season.

Movies – of couse I pressed play the second The Love Hypothesis dropped. I really enjoyed it, wrote a full debrief here if you want to know more.

✨ Small Joys

  • Authentic French Macrons, every month at the farmers market in town, I get the most delicious Macrons from the little small business ran by this really nice french lady.
  • Suprise Bookmail, I had a unexpected delivery of a book box from Helena Hunting that came all the way from Canada.
  • Fun Socks & Cosy Pjamas, my mum sent me some really cool buffy pjamas that have fleece trousers and now the weather has cooled off, they are the perfect thing to relax in in the evenings.

💭 And Finally…

Autumn is well and truely here. I’m loving getting cosy again and really looking forward to getting spooky in October.

T xoxo
