[Book Review] Alma Vampires by Elena Armas

An unsuspecting heiress with a target on her back must enlist the protection of a vampire whose wealth and secrets rival her own, in a brand new paranormal romance series from New York Times bestselling author Elena Armas.

Valle Cepeda’s life changes drastically over the course of a winter break, when she goes from being an Ivy League scholarship student one day to inheriting a fortune from the mother sheโ€™s never met by the next. The fate of Alma, a coveted fashion empire, is now in Val’s hands.

Hadrian Cruz presents himself as a calculating, self-serving player in the game of who takes over Alma, but that isn’t his true aim. A blood debt that chains him to a hundred-year-old wound is finally being collected, and it involves Val.

Furious at everyone who would try to manipulate her, Val returns to Icarus University, only to see her world has changed shape dramatically and Hadrian is now at the center of it. She doesnโ€™t trust him, but there are things only Hadrian can provide: protection, and the way to satiate a longing she craves more than fears.

Plagued by nightmares, can Val decipher the secrets of her legacy? And can she accept that what she feels for Hadrian runs deeper than attraction? Answers always come at a cost, and these could shatter her heartโ€ฆ Or bind her soul to the monster she desires the most.

Review

This has become one of my favourite contemporary vampire romances. The layers in this story keep it intriguing and I was just desperate to untangle all the mysteries that were happening.ย ย

Valle becomes an heiress overnight when her birth Mother dies. Valle had no idea who her mother was before this, so it turns her life upside down. She is thrust into a world of secrets and wealth and has to deal with lots of changes and one those changes comes in the form of Hadrian Cruz, the man who wants to take over her mother’s company. Hadrian is full of secrets and contradictions and slowly Valle feels herself being drawn to him but the closer she gets to him, the more she untangles the web of deceit her mother left behind.

The TENSION between Valle and Hadrian is everything, you can immediately feel how much Valle is drawn to him, even when she doesnโ€™t want to be, I was living for their interactions. Valle herself is a little rough around the edges, she was not your easy-going FMC and is processing a lot. Hadrian gave me such Spike vibes (from Buffy) like his personally not looks, I enjoyed the mystery that sounded him.

The story telling was great and it kept me guessing to the end, which I loved, I honestly had no idea where the story was going or what was going to happen next, my jaw was on the floor reading multiple scenes but none more so than the big reveal about who Valleโ€™s Mother really was, her story was insane!

Overall, what fantastic read, Iโ€™m so excited for the next book and I highly encourage you to read this one, it’s the perfectly blend of contemporary college romance and the paranormal. Never thought I would still love reading Vampire Romances as 39-year-old but here we are.

My Rating: 5/5 ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
