Hazel is given a one-two punch when she’s forced to move out of her Upper East Side apartment and is given a final warning from her publisher.
If she doesn’t turn in a book by her next deadline, they’re cutting her loose.
Hazel rashly decides to leave what’s left of her city life behind and impulse buys a house in rural Pennsylvania sight unseen. How better to entertain the loyal readers she still has and rediscover her writing mojo than immersing herself in small-town life?
Too bad this town looks to be on its last legs. At least she’s finding swoon-worthy inspiration from her hot, grumpy contractor Cam and his animal-rescuing, community-involved family. It’s all just research. What could go wrong?
A note from the author:ย This series is my love letter to every reader who said they wanted to move to a fictional town . . .

Review
This bookโs vibes areย absolutely immaculate! I had suchย a great timeย in this world that I never wanted it to endโI need to move to Story Lake ASAP!ย
The story takes a few chapters to build momentum, but once it does, it completely takes off. Hazel and Cam make fantastic main characters, and the side characters are just as delightful. Camโs family is wonderful, Hazelโs next-door neighbour is hilarious, and even the town mayor adds humour to the mix.ย
The romance?ย Chefโs kiss.ย The pacing is spot-on, the spice is top-notch, and the chemistry between Hazel and Cam? Pure fire. I was fully invested in their relationship. Both have emotional baggage to work through, and I thought it was handled beautifully.ย
Overall, Ifย youreย looking for small-town charm with plenty of humour, this book is for you. It felt like a warm hug in book form.ย
