Summary

A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast-again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are she has been called upon to uphold an historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange. Again . . .
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was . . .
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory . . . alone with the wolf.

Review
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this story, I’ve tried a few contemporary vampire romances recently and they’ve all been a bit disappointing really. However, I was hooked from page 1, I read this book in like 2 sittings, and I could barely put it down.
Misery agrees to an arranged marriage with the Alpha Were to help bring peace to her people, but she also has her own agenda.
This story was a breath of fresh air in terms of vampire romance, the world that Ali built here was so different to anything I’ve read before. I liked how the Vampyres, Were’s, and the humans all co-exist and know about each other. Usually, Vamps and Were’s are a big secret.
I love that it was Misery who was the vampire and the FMC. I thought her character was great I enjoyed reading from her POV and seeing inside her mind. Lower was awesome, what I like the most about him was that he yes, he’s the Alpha but he didn’t act like an Alpha A-hole. The side characters were all on point.
Overall another fab read from Ali and I’m hoping she plans to write more stories set in this world because there is so much potential for a few of the side characters to tell their own story.
My Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
About the Author‘s
Ali Hazelwood is a multi-published author—alas, of peer-reviewed articles about brain science, in which no one makes out and the ever after is not always happy. Originally from Italy, she lived in Germany and Japan before moving to the U.S. to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience. She recently became a professor, which absolutely terrifies her. When Ali is not at work, she can be found running, crocheting, eating cake pops, or watching sci-fi movies with her two feline overlords (and her slightly-less-feline husband).
