Summary
It’s 2380 and the graduating students of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Tyler Jones has been a star pupil who hopes to recruit the squad of his dreams but ends up with a mixed and volatile crew.
And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem – that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline-cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.
Vividly told in the seven voices of the team members, this is fast-paced, action-packed, wickedly humorous and fabulously entertaining. Described by one online fan as ‘a mystery with tons of action. A kind of thriller on steroids with a fantasy feel.’

Review
I picked this book up in random trip to Waterstones a couple of months ago. I remember when this book came out and I’m not sure why I never looked it up or thought about reading it. Which I can now confirm was a huge error, because I enjoyed it so much!
It’s exactly what I needed to read right now, its different from anything I’ve read recently in the best way.
The story is told from in the first person from the 7 POVs of each of the main character’s which was just genius, it was great to get a look into the minds of each of them as they are all so different from one another. I have to say I did like all the of the characters, maybe some more than others, I think my favs at the moment is Kal but I do have a soft spot for Fin.
The story itself is just fantastic. It sucked me in from the very first page, as you are thrown straight into all the action right away. I love stories set in space, it was interesting to read about how the world worked and finding out about all the different alien species.
I’m so looking forward to reading the next two books, which I ordered when I was halfway through this book as I knew a needed to know what happens asap.
Overall this was a fantastic read, I would definitely recommend.
My Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
