The Friday 5: Five Books I’d Recommend for a Darker Reading Mood

Happy Friday, and welcome back to Friday Five!

If you’re new here, the idea is simple: every Friday I share five bookish picks around a different theme. Sometimes it’ll be books, sometimes characters, tropes, playlists, adaptations, or anything else that gets us talking.

This week’s theme is: Five Books I’d Recommend for a Darker Reading Mood

Whether you’re looking for your next read or just fancy a bit of bookish chat, here are my five picks.

Thornbird by Elle Kennedy

FMC is the Daughter of A Serial Killer, need I say more…

Scythe and Sparrow by Brynne Weaver

Murder and mayhem with a sprinkle of love. Ticks all the boxes if you are looking for a darker romance.

Dire Bound by Sable Sorenson

The whole vibes of this is dark and ominous and some of the characters are shady asf.

Lights Out by Navessa Allen

This one blends darkness romance with absolute chaos – read with caution.

The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Muhurin

A dark vampire fantasy romance. This book did creep me out a little big, its atmospheric gothic feel was perfect.

Your Turn!

If you have a blog, why not join in? Write your own Friday Five, whether you choose this week’s theme or come up with one of your own, and leave me a link in the comments. I’d love to read it!
