Review
I was so excited to get an ARC of this book. I absolutely devoured Storm Breaker and I was eager to dive into this book given the ending of the last.
The first half was great. We learn a lot about Rook and what is really happening in the wastes, I enjoyed finding out just how much deception had been going on. More of Rook’s family is introduced and so I got a fuller idea of who Rook is and his background.
The second half was well, there was a lot of telling and not showing which I didn’t love. I think that the book needed to have more breathing room for the plot to fully develop properly. It had great potential to be amazing but I just needed more depth. Poet was a little frustrating at times, but I think that’s just her age and naivety.
I’m still intrigued about where this is all going though, some of the revelations towards the end were genuinely jaw dropping.
Overall an enjoyable read, just thought it could have been a bit more developed. I will continue as I need to know what happens next
