[Book Review] If You Love Me by Helena Hunting

Two nights with her ruined me for all other women, but I never got the chance to make her mine.

Iโ€™m the pinnacle of control. I protect the net, my team, and my daughter.
Itโ€™s my final season and I canโ€™t afford any distractions.
Except our new assistant coach just walked in.
And I would know her face anywhere.
Sheโ€™s the one I dream about.

That weekend, I was just a manโ€”not the legend, the dad, the mentor.
I didnโ€™t care that I was a decade older.
For the first time in my life, I was ready to risk everything if it meant having her.
Until I woke up to an empty bed and no note.
Three years of wishing I knew how to find her, now sheโ€™s my new boss.

I can be patient.
But for herโ€”I want to break all the rules.

Review

Ahh, itโ€™s Romanโ€™s book! Iโ€™ve loved the entire Toronto Terror series, but this one was truly a treat.

Lexi and her sisters were such a highlight for me. Each had their own distinct personality, yet they meshed so well together. And Romanโ€”wow! He wasnโ€™t at all what I expected based on the previous books. Heโ€™s wilder than I anticipated, but in a way that (mostly) works for him.

A big theme in this book is family. Lexi and her sisters have just moved to Toronto for her new job, and without giving too much away, theyโ€™re new in town and figuring things out. This sets the stage for Lexi and Romanโ€™s unexpected reunion.

The forbidden romance vibes in this book were off the charts, and I absolutely loved it. It was also great to see Roman finally go after something for himself instead of just being an overbearing father. The chemistry between him and Lexi? Scorching. The spice was definitely spicing! That said, there was one moment I didnโ€™t loveโ€”during a steamy scene, some derogatory remarks were made. I know that can be a turn-on for some, but it took me out of the moment for a bit. Thankfully, it was easy enough to skim past, and it didnโ€™t take away from how much I enjoyed the rest of the book.

Overall, this was a fantastic addition to the series and probably one of my favorites so far. Highly recommend!
