[Book Review] A Little too Close by Rebecca Yarros

Summary

From USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Yarros comes a small town, single parent romance.

Nine years ago, Weston Madigan saved me. I came to Colorado penniless, heartbroken, and pregnant, searching for a fresh start. Weston gave me a job at his family’s resort, then left the next day and never returned, not even to visit.

Then I stumble in on Weston cooking breakfast shirtless—gloriously, inappropriately shirtless—in the shared kitchen of my duplex in employee housing. Given the shock on both our faces, he wasn’t expecting a roommate either, let alone two.

The growly pilot is only home to start his family’s new heli-skiing operation. I can handle being his temporary roommate, right? Chemistry and attraction aren’t impossible to ignore when you agree on ground rules. Besides, even with those gorgeous, brooding brown eyes, the guy is a walking thundercloud…until my daughter, Sutton, makes him laugh and he smiles at me. Then everything changes. Cue inconvenient heart flip.

This is only temporary.
I can’t fall for Weston.
I. Will. Not. Fall. For. Weston.
But rules go out the window when you’re a little too close.

Review

Thoughts

This is the second book in Madigan Mountain Series. This is Weston’s story. It’s been minute since I read the first book, but you absolutely don’t need to read it to understand this one.

Story

Weston left Madigan Mountain 9 long years ago and hasn’t been back home since. During his time away he has built his career in the military and is a bad ass helicopter pilot. Weston’s return is due to helping his brother start a heli-skiing operation as part of the family business.

Callie has been living and working on the mountain during the past nine years. Then one morning she comes home to find Weston topless cooking bacon in her kitchen.

After deciding to be roommates, their attraction to one another ignites which leads to all sorts of complications.

Characters

It took me a few chapters to warm up to Weston, his anger and closed off demeanour was a littles abrasive to begin with, but he did grow throughout the story and in the end, I could see where all his anger and resentment towards his brother and father was coming from. I did like how he was with Callie in the beginning, but his own insecurities let him down towards the end.

I liked Callie from the start, her story of bring up her child on her own was admirable. She also has her own family issues which were touched on but never got fully resolved.

Conclusion

This was a great little read and I really enjoyed learning about the 2nd born Madigan son, I’d definitely recommend if you enjoyed the first book.

My Rating: 3/5 🌟🌟🌟
